How PBECC came to be.
As early as 2007, the Ministry Directors of Peace began praying and discussing how Peace might best reach out and serve the Waverly community in the Name of Jesus. With the growth of Waverly at the time, especially of families with young children, it became clear that we should provide something to bless that demographic.
We began offering a summer day camp in June of 2009 for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. God granted it success, so on November 22, 2009, the voting members of Peace voted to begin a preschool and daycare ministry. The name would be Peaceful Beginnings Early Childhood Center, a name that Keryl Giesler recommended years before. PBECC became a licensed facility on September 2, 2010, licensed for children 18 months through 13 years old. The official first day of operation was September 13, 2010.
Haley (Nelson) Kindrex was called by the Lord of the Church through His people of Peace as director and preschool teacher (of children age 3 on Tuesdays and Thursday, and ages 4 and 5 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) from the beginning through July 2012. When the decision was made to divide the director and teacher roles, she became the first full-time pre-kindergarten teacher (for children 4 and 5, every day of the week) at that point through May 2013, and Amber Beran was enlisted to teach children age 3, Monday through Friday. Julie Wilshusen became the co-director in early 2012, and the sole interim director in March of that year. Jenn Bartels was the director from Aug 2012 to February 2013, Amy Jackson served in that role from May 2013 to Aug 2015, and during this time, the Center became licensed to provide Infant Care, bringing the licensed capacity to 135 children. Kayla Baker started as director in June 2016 and serves in that role presently. On August 1, 2017 Faith Nimtz was called by the Lord through Peace to be the pre-kindergarten teacher.
We praise God for starting and sustaining this ministry, and we pray that He bless it into the future as He has since its inception. All glory to Him!
